Process to verify compliance with technical regulations on product labeling.

ECUADORIAN TECHNICAL REGULATION (RT) 022

The labeling of packaged and packaged processed food products must comply with the provisions of the requirements chapter of the current NTE INEN 1334-1 and NTE INEN 1334-2 standards, and with article 14 of the organic law on consumer protection.

The following information must appear on the label of the packaged product, as applicable:

  1. Name of the food
  2. List of ingredients
  3. Net content and drained mass (drained weight)
  4. Identification of the manufacturer, packer, importer or distributor
  5. City and country of origin
  6. Lot identification
  7. Date marking and storage instructions
  8. Instructions for use
  9. Irradiated food
  10. Transgenic foods

Alcoholic drinks

  • The alcoholic content must be declared in % of alcohol volume.
This information must be presented in Spanish, notwithstanding that the information may be additionally presented in other languages.

  • b) Identification of the manufacturer or importer.

The labeling or labeling of the products subject to this technical regulation must comply with the following:

The sanitary notification code or code of good practices granted to market the product in national territory, as the case may be;

Only a third-party conformity mark, issued in accordance with product conformity assessment, may be displayed on the product or product packaging. all other third-party marks of conformity, such as those related to quality or environmental management systems and services, must not be displayed on a product, product packaging, or in any way that could be construed to denote conformity. of the product.

Primary packaging information (packaging). all primary containers (packaging) contemplated in this technical regulation must bear a label or label with the following minimum information:

  • a) Name of the product;

  • c) Lot identification;
  • d) Corporate name of the company (identification of the manufacturer, bottler, or distributor)
  • e) Net content;
  • f) Sanitary notification or bpm code to market it in national territory.

  • h) Expiration date or maximum consumption time;
  • i) List of ingredients, with their respective specifications;
  • j) Retail price (does not apply to bags of 50 kg or more);
  • k) Country of origin;
  • l) Indication if it is artificial, irradiated or genetically modified food.
  • m) Indication of the message “for your health, reduce the consumption of this product”
  • n) Instructions for use.
